The Center for Adventist Research (CAR) is now accepting applications for the Gary Land Research Fellowship, which carries a monetary value of $2,500. This annually awarded endowed fellowship supports historical research at CAR. Priority is given to projects that reflect Land’s commendable scholarly approach: situating Adventism within broader historical or theoretical contexts and publishing cutting-edge work for expansive academic audiences.
Applicant Criteria:
- Applicant must be a PhD student, have an earned doctorate, or an established publishing record demonstrating expertise.
- Applicant must reside more than 100 miles from Andrews University.
- Applicants who have received any CAR research fellowship or grant in the previous five years will not be considered.
- Recipients must acknowledge the Center for Adventist Research and the Gary Land Research Fellowship in all publications this fellowship helps produce.
To Apply:
- Submit a letter of no more than 500 words including:
- an explanation of your research project, highlighting its contribution to history and/or related academic fields;
- a simple budget detailing how you will spend the $2,500 to advance your research;
- a brief statement on why research at CAR is critical to your work and how you believe CAR’s resources will enhance your publication;
- a summary of your publication strategy, with specifics regarding the press(es) and/or journal(s) you hope will publish your work.
- A C.V. with names and contact information for three references
