Fragment of carbon copy of typewritten letter by Matilda Erickson. Text reads "the journey which resulted in the discovery of America, he had an enthusiastic crew, but soon strange experiences bred stranger fears. Yet despite the unwillingness of his crew, regardless of their terrible threatening, each day his diary bore the record, "And to-day we sailed westward." Despite unwillingness of others to co-operate, regardless of discouraging circumstances and former ineffective efforts, may the record of each Sabbath-school Secretary be "To-day I've climbed heavenward, and, Lord, if I may I'll serve another day." God will bless you as you thus persevere in behalf of your schools that the spiritual benefit of the Sabbath-schools throughout the conference be more truly the life saving stations for which they were intended. I am very thankful that God is counting on you and me to press on in this great work and to triumph with it as well. Praying that God may bless you and your work abundantly, I am, Very sincerely yours, Matilda Erickson.

excerpt from a letter written by Matilda Erickson (later to become Matilda E. Andross).

In addition, the Center’s collection includes rare books, a ...

Lantern slides were first introduced ten years after the invention of photography, and allowed images to be viewed by large groups. This was much like slide transparencies of a few years ago. ...
