RESPONSIBILITIES

The quality of our school cannot exceed the quality of our teachers. In that spirit, we are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following “essential job duties” and responsibilities:

With students, you:

• Deliver excellent student supervision consistent with the age and abilities of students
• Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior
• Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families 
• Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom culture
• Demonstrate passion for  the content area you teach
• Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes
• Create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice 

Whole School Responsibilities:

• Model and teach our core values: purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness
• Give and receive feedback to improve your practice, that of your peers, and school leaders, and create and maintain open, honest and respectful lines of communication

Instructional Responsibilities:

• As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for teaching lessons to students for one to five periods per day while the host teacher is away from their classroom. 
• Invictus will provide all substitutes with two full days of paid training, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities. 
• During the course of the school year, you will have the opportunity to teach different subjects and grade levels, an excellent launchpad for someone interested in becoming a full-time teacher in the future.

Position Details:

• This is an on call, hourly position. The hourly substitute rate is $40 per hour. The hours are:
  • Monday, Tuesday, & Friday: 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Wednesday & Thursdays: 8:00am-2:40pm
• All days may require supervision responsibilities during classroom transitions.
• For planned absences, we will schedule substitute assignments in advance. For unexpected absences, we will either call the evening prior or the day of by 7:30am.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Earned Bachelor’s Degree.
• You are excited to be part of the teaching profession in California public schools and a member of the Invictus community.
• You have or can obtain a Valid 30-day Emergency Substitute Permit or have other Valid CA Teaching Credential.

• You believe that every student can meet high academic and behavioral expectations, and are committed to providing the support they need to do so.
• You are adaptable and excited to teach different subjects and grade levels, and are eager to develop your students’ love for it too.
• You are professional, warm and collaborative with students, families, and colleagues.  
• You are a team player and are willing to support teachers, staff and students as needs arise.
• You are able to start immediately and can be available on call. 
• All employees must pass a background check and be free of TB risk factors. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Our ideal candidate has at least three years of teaching experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is on-site. The employee must have sufficient mobility to report to campus, work in a classroom, and engage with students, with or without reasonable accommodations. The employee may be required to do light lifting, pushing/pulling, and bending, with or without accommodations. The employee must possess the ability to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, with or without reasonable accommodations.
