Description:In observance of the centennial of Arbor Day, the Berrien Springs Garden Forum donated two evergreens to the Community Services Center, 840 St.Joseph Road, which is operated by the Berrien Springs and Pioneer Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Planting one of the trees above, from left, are Edmond Roy, superintendent of the Andrews University grounds department; Mrs. Everett Kidder, publicity chairman for the Garden Forum; Mrs. Ben Schoun, director of the Community Services Center; and Allen Chaffee of the AU grounds department. Arbor Day began in April, 1872, when newspaperman J. Sterling Morton was influential in getting Nebraskans to plant over one million trees in a single day.
